FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS COACHING?
First, let me ask you: what is the single greatest obstacle or challenge in your life right now? That is the focus of coaching. A targeted, interactive process designed to facilitate concrete changes and achieve specific, defined goals in the area(s) of your life you’re seeking growth or improvement, whether that’s personal or professional.
WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE OF COACHING?
The objective of my practice is to help people realize and actualize their potential and achieve specific goals by inspiring new thinking, exploring possibilities, leveraging strengths, identifying obstacles or limitations - whether perceived or actual- and determining a course of action to achieve desired results, outcomes and promote lasting transformation.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COACHING AND THERAPY?
Therapy focuses on exploring and understanding the past, how it influences a person and their life. It is about healing emotional wounds. Coaching focuses on taking action in the present. It is about looking forward and taking proactive steps towards defined goals to achieve meaningful results a create a fulfilling life.
IN WHAT WAYS ARE COACHING AND THERAPY SIMILAR?
Coaching and therapy are both concerned with making concrete changes in your emotional state and life. Both work to understand the self-limiting beliefs or behavior caused by thoughts and emotions that you may or may not be aware of and both practices help you grow, change, and master your emotional responses.
HOW OFTEN AND HOW LONG DOES COACHING LAST?
Coaching is a goal-oriented co-creation and part of my role as your ally and partner in achieving results is to help equip you with the tools necessary to navigate through life’s challenges independently. Of course, we all have blind spots. Together, we will explore adaptive strategies that usher in major life shifts. Just as with sports, a client’s results depend on their degree of participation and investment in their growth. A team can have the greatest coach in the NBA but unless the players are willing to put in the work, their success will be limited.
WHAT DOES ‘HOLISTIC’ APPROACH MEAN?
In medicine, the association between the symptom(s) a patient is presenting and the underlying cause isn’t necessarily linear. Often, the concurrence of a number of contributing factors result in the ailment and only when viewed collectively can a proper diagnosis be made. The same goes with most things in life. The change you make in one area often influences and impacts another and once the underpinnings of a particular challenge are unearthed and effectively dealt with, it can have a domino effect, positively impacting many areas of your life. Environmental factors, emotional triggers, diet, stress, history, sleep are interconnected and all affect our headspace and state of being. By looking at the whole picture, we can determine actionable steps to create real, lasting changes.
